What Is Pharmacy First?

Pharmacy First is a free NHS service that lets you access treatment and advice directly from a trained pharmacist. It’s designed to ease pressure on GP surgeries by allowing community pharmacies to manage a wide range of minor illnesses and conditions.

At One Pharmacy, our team is qualified to assess your symptoms, provide over-the-counter treatments, and, in some cases, offer prescription medications — all without you needing to see a GP.

Conditions We Can Help With

Under the Pharmacy First scheme, you can get expert help for:

• Earache (ages 1 to 17)
• Impetigo (ages 1 and above)
• Infected insect bites (ages 1 and above)
• Shingles (ages 18 and above)
• Sinusitis (ages 12 and above)
• Sore throat (ages 5 and above)
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women (ages 16 to 64)

We also continue to support other minor conditions such as coughs, colds, and hay fever through our standard pharmacy services.

How the Service Works

Using the Pharmacy First service is simple:

1. Visit any One Pharmacy branch in London or Enfield — no appointment needed.
2. Speak to a pharmacist in a private consultation room.
3. Get advice and treatment on the spot. If suitable, you may receive a free NHS-supplied medicine.

If your symptoms suggest a more serious issue, our team will refer you to a GP or another appropriate service.
